Knock at the Cabin Plot

Seven-year-old Wen is on vacation with his fathers Eric and Andrew in a remote cabin in rural Pennsylvania. While catching a grasshopper, Wen contacts Leonard, a stranger. Friendly at first, he explains that he needs the help of Wen and his parents to save the world. However, Wen becomes suspicious when three other people show up with makeshift weapons. Wen escapes to warn Eric and Andrew, but the guests burst into the cabin and tie them up, and Eric suffers a concussion trying to fend them off.

Leonard and his companions - Sabrina, Adriane and Redmond - claim that they have never met before and intend to harm the family. However, for the past week, they have been driven by visions and an unknown force to find their family. The group predicts an imminent apocalypse with Leonard claiming that the oceans will rise, a pandemic will spread, the sky will fall and darkness will cover the earth. The only way to stop it is to sacrifice your family. They are warned that even if they survive the end of the world, they will be the last people alive unless they make a choice. Eric and Andrew suspect that the intruders are lying and that the attack is motivated by hatred and delusion.

When the family refuses to make a choice, the intruders sacrifice Redmond by covering his head with a cloth and beating him to death with their weapons. A devastated Eric sees a figure of light as Redmond dies. On television, media reports show gigantic megatsunamis, which Leonard declares to be the beginning of the end of the world. Andrew thinks he recognizes Redmond as Rory O'Bannon, the man who was arrested after attacking Andrew in a bar years earlier. Andrew believes that Rory has tracked him down for revenge and manipulates others into participating in his plot. Leonard, Sabrina, and Adriane question Andrew's assumption and struggle with guilt, but continue to cling to their visions. They reveal that the death of Redmond published the first judgment of humanity. The next day, the visitors sacrifice Adrian while the family remains undecided. The disasters continue as a deadly variant of the flu virus, to which children are particularly susceptible, spreads around the world…
