Ant-Man is an American superhero film from 2015 based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same name: Scott Lang and Hank Pym. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film is the 12th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Peyton Reed directed the film of a film by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish and Adam McKay and Paul Rudd. By April 2011, Wright and Cornish had completed three drafts of the script, and in July 2012, Wright shot test footage for the film. Pre-production began in October 2013 after being put on hold to allow Wright to complete The End of the World. Casting began in December 2013 when Rudd was hired to play Lang. In May 2014, Wright left the project due to creative differences, although he continued to receive the Cornish man's script and story. In 1989, scientist Hank Pym steps away from S.H.I.E.L.D. after they discovered an attempt to copy his Ant-Man shrinking technology. Pym believes the technology would be dangerous if copied, so he vows to keep it a secret until then. Today, Pym's estranged daughter Hope van Dyne and former patron Darren Cross forced him out of his company, Pym Technologies. Much to Pym's dismay, Cross is almost done with his shrink suit, the yellow jacket.

After being released from prison, well-intentioned thief Scott Lang moves in with his old cellmate Luis. Lang visits his daughter Cassie unannounced and is scolded by his ex-wife Maggie and her detective boyfriend Paxton for not paying child support. Unable to hold down a job because of his criminal record, Lang agrees to join Luis' team and commit a heist. Lang breaks into the house and breaks open its safe to find what he thinks is an old motorcycle suit to take home. After trying on the suit, Lang accidentally shrinks to the size of an insect. Horrified by the experience, he returns the suit to the house, but is arrested on his way out. Pym, the landlord, visits Lang in prison and smuggles the suit into his cell to help him break free.

Pym, who manipulates Lang into stealing the suit through an unknowing Luis as an experiment, wants Lang to be the new Ant-Man to steal Cross's yellow jacket. After spying on Cross and learning his intentions, Hope and Pym teach Lang how to fight and control the ants. While Hope resents Pym for the death of her mother Janet, he reveals that Janet, known as the Wasp, disappeared into the subatomic quantum realm after a Soviet nuclear missile was disabled in 1987. Pym warns Lang that he may suffer a similar fate if he passes him. . I adjusted his outfit. Cross dons a yellow jacket and attacks Lang before Paxton arrests Lang. Cross takes Cassie hostage to lure Lang into another fight. Lang bypasses the controller and shrinks to subatomic size to penetrate Cross's suit and sabotage it by contracting uncontrollably, apparently killing Cross. Lang disappears into the quantum world, but is able to reverse the effects and returns to the macroscopic world. In gratitude for Lang's heroism, Paxton protects Lang to keep him out of prison. Seeing that Lang survived and returned from the quantum world, Pym wonders if his wife is also alive. Later, Lang meets Luis, who tells him that Wilson is looking for him.
